The Academic Writing Workshop will be held on 8–15 May 2023 . This workshop will be held both offline and online at BNU Science and Technology Building B628 meeting room, Haidian District, Beijing and via Zoom:

Course Schedule

Academic writing is the key skill for research in geography. Have a well-structured writing outlines and strategies would improve our ability of writing and make it easier to organize the scientific findings into a good story. In this workshop, Prof. Eldridge will go through how to write Abstract, Title, Introduction, Discussion to form a suitable recipe of academic writing structure.

This session would involve 20 minutes discussion of tips to help with writing a title, abstract, Introduction and Discussion, a 20 minutes case study, and 20 minutes discussion.

For those who attend offline, please bring the material listed above so that we can discuss a couple of real examples. David Eldridge will be available after the sessions to provide specific advice on writing.

Prof. Dr. David Eldridge

University of NSW, Australia

David Eldridge is a Professor at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of NSW, Sydney, Australia. He has over 35 years of experience in rangeland monitoring and assessment, soil conservation in developing countries, grazing management, desertification, and ecology of desert systems. He has published over 250 papers on high profile journals such as Nature, Nature Geoscience, ISME, Ecology Letters, Global Change Biology and he was awarded 2022 NSW Premier's Prize, and is an editor of Restoration Ecology and a past editor of The Journal of Arid Environments.
